Masqs are the creation and chosen race of the god Nuit.
They are divided into two types Black Masqs (of the night) and White Masqs (of the day) reflecting the core color of their mask and underlying personality. Masqs derive their name from elaborate and ornate masks they wear on their face they do not remove except in exceptional circumstances. They are very elfen creatures in feature and personality, and very curious, but won't speak often (not to say they don't, they just rarely do and choose words of importance.) Their magical masks tend to shift to reflect their underlying emotions with a tilt of their head, losing the mask typically isn't a problem as it will inevitably find its way back into their possession.
White Masqs are eager to make friends and give gifts, and enjoy doing it with the restriction of lack of words as a challenge. Black Masqs are more reserved and untrusting, but incredibly loyal to those that have proven themselves to them and are creatures of action as opposed to words. They have pale grey skin and tend not to be above four feet tall and as short as two and a half feet. Their eyes always contrast their mask color, with White Masqs having wholly black eyes, and Black Masqs having wholly white. Masqs have no determinate life length, and seem to die young as often as they die ancient, their oddness and curiosity lends towards strange pursuits that lead to strange ends.
